With demonstrated enthusiasm and attention to detail that the people of District 118 need and deserve, incumbent Juan Fernandez-Barquin is by far the best suited candidate to decisively address local and state issues.

Fernandez-Barquin is running in newly mapped House District 118, which covers a narrow strip of the County west of the Florida Turnpike including portions of the unincorporated Kendall, Perrine, Sunset, and Westchester neighborhoods.

Since 2018, he has been representing Miami-Dade in Tallahassee. With an extensive background in economics and politics, Fernandez-Barquin has always been a leader when it comes to his local community and making sure the voices of his constituents are heard all the way to the capital.

As a State Representative, Juan has shown his committed to eliminating wasteful spending and reducing taxes while helping small businesses create well-paying jobs for the community. He also is laser focused on ensuring that people feel safe in their neighborhood, helping schools provide the best educational options, and developing solutions to reduce traffic and tolls.

Fernandez-Barquin graduated from FIU and holds a J.D. from American University College of Law in Washington. A practicing attorney, he is also an adjunct professor at Miami-Dade College, and serves as Board Chairman for Hearing and Speech Center of Florida, among other civic posts.

It is said that Fernandez-Barquin is the better informed of the candidates, and while we believe that is unequivocally true, it is also because of integrity and solid understanding of what is important to his constituents that the Community Newspapers recommends Juan Fernandez-Barquin for Florida District Seat 118.
