Keralty Hospital Miami names new chief medical officer
Dr. Abid Chaudhry

Keralty Hospital Miami recently appointed a new Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Abid Chaudhry.

Dr. Chaudhry is an accomplished Emergency Medicine physician with over 20 years of experience with an extensive background in providing direct patient care within high volume departments. He is highly skilled in delivering exceptional patient care and support through proper assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. He also has extensive knowledge with healthcare regulations and compliance management.

Dr. Chaudhry earned his medical degree in the Ibero-American University in the Dominican Republic. He then completed his residency training in the Brooklyn Hospital Center. He has served on multiple medical leadership committees.

He was appointed to the Medical Staff of Keralty Hospital Miami (formerly Westchester Hospital) in October 2020 where he served as the medical director for the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department before being promoted to chief medical officer.

In this new role, Dr. Chaudhry will be leading many of the Keralty Hospital’s programs, including the Medical Residency Program. He also will serve as the chair of the hospital’s Credentials Committee and participate in committees dedicated to improvements in clinical quality.

“We are very happy to have Dr. Chaudhry lead in this new role,” said Dr. Juan Carlos Echandia, CEO of Keralty Hospital Miami. “We are confident that his expertise in the medical field and his focus on patient quality care will take our hospital to the next level.”

Keralty Hospital Miami also recognizes the hard work and dedication that the former chief medical officer, Dr. Jose David “JD” Suarez, demonstrated during his time working with the organization.

“We are sad to see Dr. Suarez go, but we applaud him for his work during his time as CMO”, Dr. Echandia said. “Not only did we find a great physician and leader, but we also found a compassionate friend in Dr. Suarez. He worked very closely with Dr. Chaudhry, and we have already seen the expected smooth transition. We are very lucky to have such remarkable teams in Keralty Hospital.”

Formerly known as Westchester General Hospital, Keralty Hospital Miami has served the greater South Florida community since 1967, with 125 beds and specialized services such as Emergency Medicine, Surgical Services, and Intensive Care Units. Keralty Hospital Miami is located at 2500 SW 75 Ave., Miami.
