LGBTQIA+ Advisory Board names officers for 2026

The Miami-Dade County Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual, Plus (LGBTQIA+) Advisory Board has announced the election of its 2026 officers, selected during the Board’s meeting held on Nov. 12.

Bobby Joe Bracy is a dedicated public servant whose work is focused on helping the residents of Miami-Dade County navigate bureaucracy and making local government more accessible & accountable to the people. After serving two years as a director of Constituent Services in the U.S. House of Representatives, Bracy is now blessed to continue serving his community as district director for the Office of Miami-Dade County Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins.

He is a graduate of Florida International University where he received his BA in Sociology/Anthropology with a Certificate in Law, Ethics, and Society. As a proud Golden Panther, he also received his JD from the Florida International University College of Law.

Dr. Travis L. Stokes, EdD, is a distinguished nonprofit and community leadership expert with over 20 years of experience in advancing education, economic mobility, and civic engagement across Miami-Dade County.

A respected strategist in philanthropy and public affairs, Dr. Stokes has led impactful initiatives at Florida International University, the United Negro College Fund, and various regional organizations, demonstrating a proven record of successful fundraising, operational excellence, and values-driven leadership.

His work has earned him various recognitions, including the United Way Miami Dorothy Shula Award for Outstanding Volunteerism and Brickell Magazine’s “Local Heroes” feature.

Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Stokes actively participates in Miami’s civic scene, including the United Way Miami Engagement Committee, Impact Council for School-Age Education, and Miami-Dade County LGBTQIA+ Advisory Board, as an appointee of Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. His leadership embodies a strong commitment to collaboration, community impact, and providing youth and families with access to pathways for success.

Dr. Stokes holds a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University, as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in public administration from Florida International University. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Kennedy School’s Emerging Leaders Program. He brings to this board his guiding philosophy, “Aspire to Inspire before you Expire”, and a dedicated effort to uplift the communities he serves.
