The Office of Miami-Dade County School Board member Luisa Santos, on Dec. 18, hosted the annual District 9 Winter Wonderland at Mandarin Lakes K-8 Academy. From 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., the event welcomed hundreds of students and their families from across South Dade to celebrate the holiday season.

Families experienced seasonal joy through the distribution of more than 2,000 free toys, books, food, games, and other resources. In addition to enjoying holiday fun, families had access to an interactive and welcoming community Resource Fair.

Hosted in collaboration with local organizations and partners – including Miami-Dade County Commissioner Kionne McGhee, Futbol con Corazon – FCC, Florida Blue, Office City Supplies, Johnnie M. Parris Foundation, Green Pathways to Success Inc., Metro-Dade Firefighters, Spirit Airlines, Miami-Dade Public Library System, Life Time at The Falls, Cristina’s Academy, Miami Dade College, His Hands and Feet, Children’s Home Society, and Amigos for Kids – the event was an opportunity for families to connect, uplift one another, and strengthen the bonds that make the District 9 community so special.

School Board member Santos was proud to see neighbors, community members, and over 100 volunteers come together for an afternoon of shared celebration and goodwill.

“We wanted to ensure that every child and family experienced joy and created lasting memories during this holiday season,” Santos said. “Thank you, District 9, for your support and generosity — our community made this free holiday event possible.”
