M-DCPS begins GOB project for new K-8 center in West Kendall

Miami-Dade County Public Schools superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, board member Lubby Navarro, and district staff were joined by students and the marching band from Felix Varela Senior High School to begin officially the construction of a new K-8 center in West Kendall. The new school will be in Varela’s feeder pattern.

Zyscovich Architects and Link Construction Company have been commissioned to deliver the $15.8 million Phase I of the new school, which will be named at a future date. Phase I consists of a new 58,765- square-foot, two-story facility which will house 750 student stations and includes: classrooms, labs, student and staff restrooms; media center with media production lab, digital iTV and CCTV; Administrative Area; full-production kitchen and serving areas accommodating 1,200 student stations; interior dining area; music lab/performance platform; PE shelter, primary and kindergarten play areas; parent and bus drop-offs and covered walkways; staff and visitor parking; service yard, landscaping, drainage and irrigation systems; perimeter fencing, and a marquee sign.

  2. I will like to know when open the new school Kendall Square k_8, I just move to here and I don’t know is will be ready for next school year.
