M-DCPS is currently accepting applications for Magnet programs for the 2022-23 school year. The enrollment period for Magnet programs across the school district opened in October and runs through Jan. 15, 2022.
Students must apply at www.miamimagnets.org before Jan. 15 in order to be added to the random selection process. The online application process is fast and easy. Each child can apply for up to five schools. Notification letters will be sent out after the selection period around Mar. 15, 2022, at which point parents can either accept or decline the admission offer.
Ever since the first Magnet school was established in 1973 at then-Charles R. Drew Elementary, the demand for theme-based innovative programs has grown exponentially. M-DCPS has remained a champion and pioneer in implementing Magnet school choice to provide equitable, high-quality, choice educational programs. Students in all grade levels are now able to enjoy more than 370 Magnet programs and specialized courses with unique thematic strands of study that focus on their special interests, talents and abilities.
Among the unique offerings included are programs such as STArts – Science Technology and the Arts Exploration and Innovation, Space and Oceanic Exploration, Cybersecurity, Investing (using Bloomberg stock exchange terminals), Artificial Intelligence through Robotics, and Gaming Design.
