The College Board recently released its 2025 Advanced Placement results, revealing that Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS) students outperformed both state and national averages. An impressive 72 percent of M-DCPS students earned a qualifying score of three or higher — five points above the Florida average and two points above the national average.

The AP program offers students the opportunity to complete college-level studies across a wide range of subjects, including the arts, social sciences, languages, literature, science, mathematics, and computer science.

Students who earn a score of three or higher on a five-point scale on an AP exam are eligible for college credit at most universities, providing them with a head start on their higher education. This means that an M-DCPS student who is taking AP courses could earn college credit before graduating high school, saving time and money while demonstrating college readiness.

Some statistical highlights include:
• With 72 percent of students scoring a three or higher on AP exams in 2025, M-DCPS AP performance surpasses the 2025 State and National passing rates of 67 percent and 70 percent respectively.

• The total number of AP exams earning qualifying scores increased by 77 percent over the past five years, from 24,063 in 2021 to 42,503 in 2025. Student participation in AP courses also has increased from 30,327 in 2020-21 to 34,431 in 2024-25.

• Among the African American subgroup, the percentage of students scoring a three or higher has increased by 18 percentage points, from 32 percent in 2021 to 50 percent in 2025.

• Among the Hispanic subgroup, the percentage of students scoring a three or higher has increased by 22 percentage points, from 51 percent in 2021 to 73 percent in 2025.

• Finally, in 2025, 524 M-DCPS students earned an AP Capstone diploma, an increase of 137 percent from 221 in 2021. The AP Capstone Diploma is awarded to students who earn a score of three or higher in six AP courses, including AP Research and AP Seminar.

The College Board’s release of the 2025 AP results affirms M-DCPS as your best choice for academic excellence. With 72 percent of students earning a qualifying score, M-DCPS not only outperformed state and national averages but also demonstrated how academic rigor, expanded learning choices, and innovative instruction empower students to thrive.
