Miami-Dade School Board vice chair Monica Colucci, Florida State Sen. Ana Maria Rodriguez, and State Rep. Alex Rizo, on Wednesday, Aug. 13, presented Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer with a ceremonial check for $500,000 in supplemental funds from the 2025 Florida State Legislature.
Miami Arts Studio 6-12 @ Zelda Glazer, located in District 8, is an “A” rated school recognized for its academic excellence and exceptional performing arts programs. Students can gain experience in specialized strands within the arts while maintaining a strong academic foundation.
This significant state investment will be used to hire industry professionals who provide private and small-group instruction to students, further enhancing their training and preparation for college scholarships, competitive auditions, and future career opportunities.
In addition, the funding will help expand student performances at state, national, and international competitions, highlighting the extraordinary level of arts education taking place within Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Florida’s commitment to fostering young talent.
The allocation of the funds reflects the state’s dedication to empowering students with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. This investment will directly support both academic and artistic excellence, ensuring students have every chance to shine on any stage, whether it is in higher education or in their professional careers.
Addressing the students, Colucci said, “The arts are the soul’s universal language. They express what words cannot, connect us across borders, and reveal the humanity in us all. Keep creating and let your art speak to the world.”
Following the check presentation, the audience was treated to a riveting performance by MAS SoFlo. The energy in the room reflected not only the excitement of the day’s announcement but also the pride in the remarkable talents of Miami Arts Studio’s students.
