The Miami Dade College (MDC) administration has announced veteran academic leaders, Dr. Mark A. Everett, Dr. Roger A. Ramsammy and Dr. Richard A. Soria Jr., as the new presidents of Medical, West and Wolfson Campuses, respectively.
The Medical Campus’ new president, Dr. Everett, most recently served as the dean of the School of Health Sciences at the Medical Campus, and previously as chairof Health Sciences.
In the past, Dr. Everett also has held leadership positions in the public and private sectors, including public health administrator of the City of El Paso, TX, County Health and Environmental District; manager of the Community Health Network of South Texas and director of Fiscal Management at the University Center for Community Health of the University Health System in San Antonio, TX. He holds a doctorate in healthcare administration from the University of Phoenix, and an MBA from the University of Texas, San Antonio.
He started his new position in January.
Dr. Ramsammy, the new West Campus president, served as provost and chief academic officer at Northern Virginia Community College. In addition, he previously served as dean of academic affairs; associate dean of Math, Engineering and Science; biology department chair and professor of anatomy and physiology, biology and microbiology at Palm Beach State College.
Included in his educational accomplishments and credentials are graduate research and a postdoctoral fellowship at the Molecular Endocrinology Lab at Georgetown University Medical Hospital, Lombardi Cancer Center, and a doctorate in molecular biology from Howard University.
He started his new position Mar. 3.
Dr. Soria, the Wolfson Campus’ new president, also brings many years of experience to the post. Most recently, he served as the president of the Michigan City Campus of Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana and previously held other leadership positions at the institution, including vice chancellor, dean of the School of Public & Social Services and chair of Mortuary Sciences. He holds a Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University of Law, among other credentials.
He began his new position on Mar. 1.
MDC also bids farewell to two longstanding leaders at the institution who are retiring, Dr. José A. Vicente, outgoing Wolfson Campus president, and Dr. Armando Ferrer, outgoing Medical Campus president.
