MDFR responds to house fire in West Kendall areaEighteen Miami-Dade Fire Rescue (MDFR) units, on Sunday, May 25, at 2:28 p.m., responded to a house fire near the 13400 block of SW 78th Street. Upon arrival, crews found heavy flames and smoke coming from the home’s patio. Firefighters immediately began a fire attack as the fire had spread to an adjacent structure and a vehicle in the backyard. Due to the need for additional units, the call was upgraded to a second alarm.

The fire was placed under control with units remaining on scene to ventilate the inside of the home. Unfortunately, as a result of the fire, the family dog passed away. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
