Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) on Monday, Mar. 31, implemented Metrobus service adjustments to five routes to improve efficiency and better serve transit riders as part of its new lineup.
As a part of these changes, scheduling adjustments also were made to 30 routes to improve system reliability while maintaining access to essential destinations. The adjustments are part of DTPW’s ongoing strategic efforts to optimize and enhance Metrobus service, ensuring routes remain aligned with the evolving needs of the community.
The five Metrobus routes being adjusted are 17, 24, 100, 101, and 104/104A.
Route 17: Route 17A will be discontinued, eliminating service along NW 79th Street between 17th Avenue and the Northside Metrorail Station. Service frequency will be improved north of NW 79th Street to the 163rd Street Mall Terminal.
Route 24: All trips will be extended to the FIU South Terminal seven days a week.
Route 100: All trips will be extended to the Aventura Mall Terminal seven days a week.
Route 101: Northbound trips will be routed to 41st Street and Alton Road to improve transfers.
Route 104/104A: Route 104A will be realigned to serve SW 112th Street and SW 97th Avenue, replacing the discontinued MetroLink Killian route. Route 104 will continue to serve SW 107th Avenue.
These updates are designed to enhance service efficiency and improve connectivity.
Given the ongoing challenges posed by a nationwide shortage of bus operators, DTPW is strategically leveraging all its available resources to maintain service reliability while minimizing any disruptions to riders.
