Miami-Dade Transit reinstates Metrobus 836 Express route

The Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) on Monday, Mar. 8, reinstated Metrobus Route 836 Express, with limited weekday service between the Dolphin Station Park and Ride Lot and Downtown Miami along SR 836.

Buses run on an adjusted frequency every 20 minutes from Monday to Friday during morning and afternoon peak hours and every 30 minutes during midday service. Stops include Historic Overtown/Lyric Theatre Metrorail station, Wilkie D. Ferguson Jr. Metromover station, Government Center Metrorail and Metromover station, and the Downtown Metrobus Terminal.

The 836 Express route was initially suspended on Mar. 26, 2020, due to the onset of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Now, Miami-Dade Transit is reinstating this route in order to provide commuters additional access to the Downtown Miami area.

Details for 836 Express weekday service are as follows:
• Eastbound service from the Dolphin Station Park and Ride Lot to Downtown Miami will operate every 20 minutes between 6 and 9:30 a.m.

• Westbound service from Downtown Miami to the Dolphin Station Park and Ride Lot will operate every 20 minutes between 3 and 7:40 p.m.

• Midday service will run every 30 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Although Miami-Dade Transit fares and parking fees remain suspended at this time, passengers are once again required to use the front door to board and the rear door to exit. This will help to create a one-way circulation path and help facilitate social distancing while riding.

As a reminder, all Miami-Dade Transit riders are required to wear a facial covering while waiting for their bus or train and while riding per federal mandate. Violators will be removed from the system.

DTPW will continue to follow the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Florida Department of Health (FDOH), and Miami-Dade County.
