Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is seeking applicants for the position of full-time bus operator. Applications are being accepted at miamidade.gov/jobs through Dec. 31.

As DTPW works to implement the new Better Bus Network, the county is stepping up its recruitment efforts as it prepares to increase service levels and create a more efficient, reliable system for riders.
Bus operator trainees will earn $15.49 per hour, and after successfully completing the training program will earn $16.32 per hour to start, plus built-in overtime and an additional 1.5 percent allowance added to the Bus Operators’ base pay, and the option of earning double-time for working county-observed holidays.

In order to be selected, applicants must successfully pass a background screening and physical examination and must have the following:
• A high school diploma or a General Education Diploma (GED).
• A form of photo identification, such as a Florida driver’s license.
• Proof of having passed the General Knowledge, Air-Brake and Passenger Transport test sections of the Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) exam (current and valid CDL permit).
• In accordance with the Miami-Dade County COVID-19 Mandatory Employee Testing Policy, all new hires are required to be vaccinated. Proof of having been fully vaccinated or proof of having received the first of two doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines or one dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is required.
