Ocaquatics Swim School, with locations near Palmetto Bay and Cutler Bay as well as Coral Gables and Kendall, has reached a major milestone — three million swim lessons taught to youngsters in Miami-Dade County.

The school’s mission is to create safer swimmers and stronger communities. It also frequently partners with the Village of Palmetto Bay to gather school supplies for area children.

“Every swim lesson is a step toward preventing accidents and building confidence in the water,” said Miren Oca, founder and CEO of Ocaquatics. “We’re proud of this milestone and deeply grateful to the families who have trusted us with their children’s safety.”

Ocaquatics was founded in 1994 and over the years has grown into a trusted resource for hundreds of thousands of local families by offering high-quality swim instruction in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. Its five locations offer indoor warm-water pools and lessons for children as young as six months. With South Florida’s many canals, beach areas and home pools, drowning deaths among children are a constant risk.

To celebrate the three million lesson milestone, now through the end of the month, all Ocaquatics locations will be transformed with festive photo opportunities, milestone banners, limited-edition stickers, and surprises for swimmers and their families. As part of the celebration, Ocaquatics will be awarding a full year of free swim lessons to its three-millionth swimmer, marking this achievement with a gift that highlights the organization’s continued commitment to water safety and community impact.

Camila Julien, a longtime team member and co-owner at Ocaquatics, said, “Being part of so many children’s swim journeys over the years has been incredibly rewarding. Reaching three million lessons is a powerful reminder of the impact we make every single day — one swimmer at a time.”

Ocaquatics is a 100 percent employee-owned company and a Certified B Corporation. It has a dedicated team that shares in the success and purpose of its mission. Through its nonprofit arm, Ripples of Impact (ripplesofimpact.org), the school provides tuition assistance and water safety education to underserved families. It also partners with organizations like Stop Drowning Now to expand outreach and promote lifesaving skills in vulnerable communities.

Ocaquatics integrates sustainability into every level of its operations and participates in beach cleanups, recycling drives, and other community service events.

“Whether it’s helping a toddler float for the first time or preparing a child to swim confidently across the pool, Ocaquatics is proud to continue making waves in the lives of Miami families,” Oca said.
