Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) has announced the return of Operation Pit Stop 2025.
Made possible by a generous grant from Friends of Miami Animals Foundation Inc. (FoMA) and Wings of Rescue, this initiative will offer free spay or neuter surgeries, vaccinations, and microchipping services for owned bully breed dogs in Miami-Dade County. The services will be provided by Slomba Shelter Solutions (S3), which has partnered with Animal Services to carry out the program.
The goal of Operation Pit Stop is to reduce shelter populations, help keep pets healthy, and prevent unwanted litters, ultimately improving the lives of pets and the community. Free services will be provided on select weekends for owned Miami-Dade dogs to receive the following:
● Spay or neuter services
● Vaccinations
● Microchipping
“We are thrilled to bring back Operation Pit Stop for 2025, thanks to the support of Friends of Miami Animals Foundation,” said Annette Jose, director of Miami-Dade Animal Services.
“This program plays a key role in improving animal welfare and reducing the number of unwanted litters in our community.
“We are committed to helping as many bully breed dogs as possible, and we encourage all pet owners to take advantage of these free services,” Jose added.
“We are grateful to continue to partner with Miami-Dade Animal Services to offer free spay and neuter services to owned Miami-Dade dogs, with a focus on bully breeds,” said Yolanda Berkowitz, president and founder of FoMA. “Spaying and neutering are vital for controlling the pet population and preventing the challenges that come with overcrowded shelters.
We’re excited to help make a positive impact in the community.”
Miami-Dade County residents can register their pets for services and learn more by visiting www.operationpitstop.com or calling 311.
