On Thursday, November 9, Palmer Trinity School (PTS) and the Village of Palmetto Bay honored local veterans at the school’s gymnasium at its annual Veterans Day special assembly and breakfast. Veterans from South Miami-Dade, including Pinecrest, Palmetto Bay, Cutler Bay and Homestead, were invited to a special assembly and convocation.
Lt. Col. Scott D. Lofman, a Miami native who served as a pilot in the United States Air Force for five years, was the guest speaker. Lofman also spent 17 years in the Air Force Reserve at Homestead Air Reserve Base. He retired in 2002 as the Chief of Logistics Plans for the 482nd Tactical Fighter Wing. Additionally, Lofman had a 37-year airline career, flying for National, Pan Am and United Airlines, accumulating over 20,000 flight hours. He retired from United Airlines in 2015.
Village of Palmetto Bay Mayor Karyn Cunningham and Miami-Dade Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins were also presenters at the assembly.
