The Parkinson’s Foundation will host Moving Day Miami at Tropical Park Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 9a.m.
Moving Day is a community-building and fundraising event that brings together those with Parkinson’s disease, those who love them, and those working to care for them. The in-person event is one of 53 community events taking place across the country in 2024.
Funds raised through Moving Day will support cutting-edge research, local community grants and education programs to improve the lives of people with Parkinson’s disease in Miami. The event also raises awareness for the 79,992 people living with Parkinson’s disease in the state of Florida — the second largest number in the nation following California.
Moving Day is a fun and inspiring fundraising event that honors loved ones with Parkinson’s, celebrates movement and raises funds to advance quality care and Parkinson’s research. Moving Day events across the country have raised more than $45 million supporting the Parkinson’s Foundation mission to make life better for people with Parkinson’s disease.
Moving Day Miami is a celebration of movement and exercise, both of which are proven to help manage PD symptoms. The event will feature a mile-long walk around the track, a resource fair with information for those impacted by Parkinson’s disease and stories from our local community, shared from the stage.
Participants will have the opportunity to engage in seated and standing exercise demonstrations including Rock Steady Boxing, Dance Therapy, and more. Guests can also enjoy free coffee and refreshments provided by Starbucks Coffee. The event is open to the public and all ages.
For more information or to register, visit MovingDayMiami.org. Participants can register before or at the event. Volunteer positions also are available; see the event website for more information.
