PATCHES, a nonprofit medical daycare center, dedicated to providing specialized nursing care and therapies for medically fragile children, celebrated its 20th anniversary with its successful second annual farm-to-table gala at Hacienda Los Robles. The sold-out event brought together local philanthropists, community leaders, and supporters for an evening of gourmet dining, live entertainment, dancing and fundraising. Some distinguished guests included Commissioner Kionne McGhee and Commissioner Danielle Cohen Higgins.
Medically fragile children require extensive care daily. In South Miami Dade County, transportation challenges, and language barriers make it even harder for medically fragile children in poverty to access pediatric specialists and receive the proper care they need. PATCHES Village will bridge these gaps by providing comprehensive, inclusive, and cost-effective programs that expand access to pediatric specialists and also support young adult acute care settings, and Kindergarten through grade 3 education.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from our community,” said Pamela Rodriguez, Vice Chairman of the PATCHES Board of Directors. “Thanks to the generosity of our donors and sponsors, we are one step closer to making the PATCHES Village a reality and expanding our ability to care for the medically complex children who need us most.”
Guests enjoyed the farm-to-table culinary experience featuring gourmet dishes prepared by renowned local chefs, an open bar with craft cocktails, and live music that set the tone for the memorable evening. The event also highlighted the invaluable contributions of multi-generational local farmers, who not only attended the celebration but generously donated fresh vegetables to ensure an authentic farm-to-table dining experience. Their dedication to sustainable agriculture and community support was a key element in bringing the gala’s vision to life.
The event also included a highly anticipated silent auction with exclusive items and experiences, with all proceeds going towards the development of the PATCHES Village – a 65,000-square-foot facility in Florida City.
The farm-to-table gala was made possible through the generous support of sponsors, donors, and volunteers who share PATCHES’ commitment to improving the lives of medically fragile children and their families. The top three sponsors from this year include Lennar, FPL, and South State Bank.
Since its inaugural gala, PATCHES has made significant strides toward its vision for the PATCHES Village. It will serve as a state-of-the-art pediatric nursing center offering specialized medical care, therapy, and educational support for children with severe medical conditions.
