The Paul Palank Foundation recently awarded Children’s Home Society of Florida (CHS) $20,000 to help find loving adoptive families for children in foster care.
“Right now, there are approximately 80 local children in foster care waiting to match with a loving, adoptive parent,” said Lourdes Pons, regional executive director of Children’s Home Society of Florida, serving Miami-Dade. “Thanks to the Paul Palank foundation, CHS’ dedicated adoptions team will have more opportunities to reach prospective adoptive families and help them bring their children home.”
Children’s Home Society of Florida has a 119-year legacy of creating forever families through adoption in Florida — each year helping to finalize more than 600 adoptions statewide.
The COVID-19 pandemic has created unprecedented barriers to safe community outreach promoting local adoptions needs. Adoption recruitment events including social picnics and meet-and-greets have been cancelled and postponed due to rising COVID-19 cases. With the support of the Paul Palank Foundation, Children’s Home Society of Florida will be able to implement more virtual and one-on-one opportunities to attract, educate and guide potential adoptive parents.
