Pinecrest Gardens redefines the South Florida live music landscape with its 2024-25 lineup.
It features a robust season of jazz and tropical rhythms, including a centennial musical celebration for Celia Cruz commemorating the Queen of Salsa’s legacy. Pinecrest Gardens hosts two live music series, Jazz at Pinecrest Gardens and Tropical Nights.
Each performance occurs in Pinecrest Gardens’ historic Banyan Bowl, an acoustically stunning amphitheater under a spectacular geodesic dome.
A Salute to the Queen of Salsa: Celia Cruz and La Sonora Matancera Centennial Concert
The much-anticipated Celia Cruz Centennial Celebration 1925-2025 takes place on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2025. During this evening of tropical elegance, Pinecrest Gardens honors the centennial year of Celia Cruz’s music (1925-2025). This homage follows the release of a U.S. Mint Quarter in the fall of 2024.
Cuban artist Lucrecia will embody Celia Cruz, accompanied by the Celia Cruz All-Stars, in a night reverberating with La Sonora Matancera’s golden-era musical charts and Cruz’s greatest hits.
The Hibiscus Gallery at Pinecrest Gardens hosts a companion documentary exhibition leading up to the concert, showcasing historical photographs and memorabilia, including the famous “Cucaracha Dress,” transporting audiences to 1950s Havana. The exhibition will be on view from Dec. 7 through Feb. 2.
“Working alongside the Celia Cruz Foundation to bring this landmark celebration to life is a privilege,” said Cristina Blanco, executive director of Pinecrest Gardens. “Celia Cruz is a cultural icon who continues to inspire generations.
“Through this partnership, we’re thrilled to offer South Florida audiences a glimpse into her unparalleled legacy, featuring some of her most beloved works and personal artifacts. It’s a fitting tribute to a woman who gave the world so much joy and whose music still resonates within our community.”
