It will soon be time for many Miami area children, ages 10-16, to shoot some hoops, thanks to the basketball program at Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami Dade’s Kendall Club, 9475 N. Kendall Dr.
Registration for the 2014 Basketball Season 1 (January-March 2014) will begin in November.
The sports programs at Boys and Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade are designed to provide a safe and healthy environment so that children can learn team skills, increase self-esteem, build character, become positive role models and increase motivation as well as specific skills related to the sport.
Sport programs are available during the afternoon to the early hours of the night. This is the time of day when children, especially teens, are more likely to engage in harmful activities. They are offered Monday through Saturday. Coaches are volunteers who help the children learn proper techniques for the sport.
Registration dates: Division 11 (ages 10-11, born 2002-03), Nov. 12, 2-7 p.m.; Division 13 (ages 12- 13, born 2000-01), Nov. 13, 2-7 p.m., and Division 16 (ages 14-16, born 1997-99): Nov. 14, 2-7 p.m.
