Resident’s quick action helps save neighbor’s life

Resident’s quick action helps save neighbor’s lifeHis lifesaving effort won Citizen of the Month recognition for Michael Hrtica (center) of Kendall who helped an aged individual survive from a potential drowning incident.

Spotting the older man in distress from a second story window, Hrtica hurried to help keep him stay above water in a Jacuzzi until the arrival of police and fire-rescue units who concluded Hrtica’s efforts contributed to saving the man’s life.

Presenting the citation to Hrtica during a Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) meeting on Aug. 27 were Miami-Dade Police Kendall District’s Maj. Christopher Carothers (left) and CAC chair Barry White.

  2. Since I'm a former writer for your newspaper, and in fact wrote about the CAC and Citizens of the Month for District 5 like you do now, I'm expecting they will approve. Thanks.

  3. Thanks so much for your article featuring this wonderful young man! I have the privilege of having known him for years, and know how much he deserves this. He is an intelligent young man, one that will insure that the Kendall area is a better place. He has always been polite and considerate, and holds down in a difficult job in his community, but he does it well.
