The following is a list of remaining Rotary Club of Miami Dadeland Pinecrest programs for the month of September, which highlights some nationally known speakers.
On Sept. 9, the club will hear from Dr. Deborah Carter, principal of the Academy for Community Education known as Ace Academy, which provides an active and interactive learning environment for atrisk students.
On Sept. 16, nationally known economic advisor Antonio “Tony” Villamil will discuss “The Economic Outlook for South Florida.” Dr. Villamil was chair of former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush’s Council of Economic Advisors, where he directed Florida’s Tourism, International Trade and Economic Development. He also served President George H.W. Bush as Undersecretary of Commerce for Economic Affairs, where he actively participated in the formulation of national and international policies.
On Sept. 30, the speaker will be Sharon Langer, who recently retired as executive director of the Dade County Legal Aid Society. She will discuss her new job as development director of Disability Independence Group Inc., a Miami-based, nonprofit legal advocacy center for disabled people.
