Miami-Dade County School Board vice chair Monica Colucci on Saturday, Nov. 22, hosted the District 8 Thanksgiving turkey distribution at John A. Ferguson Senior High School, bringing together families, school personnel, and community partners for a meaningful day of service and support.

The event was made possible through the dedication of District 8’s exceptional school administrators, teachers, and staff, whose teamwork ensured a smooth and successful distribution. Their commitment to serving families in need highlights the district’s collective spirit of compassion and community care.

A special acknowledgment was extended to the Miccosukee Tribe, whose generous donation of turkeys allowed the district to provide families with essential items for the holiday. With the support of volunteers and community partners, hundreds of District 8 families received turkeys and canned goods to help them prepare a warm Thanksgiving meal.

“This event reflects the strength and unity of our District 8 community,” Colucci said. “We are grateful to all who contributed to ensuring that our families feel supported and valued during this holiday season.”

The distribution showcased Miami-Dade County Public Schools’ ongoing commitment to serving students and families beyond the classroom, especially during times of need.
