Miami-Dade County Public Housing and Community Development (PHCD) has announced the opening of the 2024 Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program Waitlist, marking a significant step towards accessible housing in the community. The window to submit applications is open until Feb. 19.
“My administration has been fully committed to increasing access to affordable housing for our residents, and this is a critical opportunity for those who need it the most in our community,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Our improved application process ensures greater accessibility, reflecting our dedication to inclusivity and streamlined services for our residents.”
In line with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations, the entire application process will be conducted online, but Miami-Dade Residents who do not have access to internet service can receive personalized assistance over the phone or at identified locations.
“The 2024 Section 8 HCV Program is a crucial avenue for families seeking stable housing,” said Alex Ballina, PHCD director. “We’ve designed an efficient online platform to simplify the application process, aligning with our vision for a more connected and responsive community.
“This innovative approach ensures that the application process is user-friendly and convenient, and we are dedicated to assisting every member of our community in accessing the resources they need for stable and secure housing.”
All submitted applications will undergo a computer-generated randomization process, and only 5,000 applications will be selected for placement on the waiting list. Meeting program requirements and income limits, as established by HUD, is essential for selection.
