The story of the famed Tuskegee Airmen, WWII’s famed black military pilots, will be on display at the Wings Over Miami Air Museum at Miami Executive Airport (formerly Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport) from Mar. 5 to 8.
Wings is partnering with local schools to help arrange special trips, dedicating two days exclusively for touring students and community groups, said Suze Rice, museum president, who arranged the event.
The Commemorative Air Force Red Tail Squadron’s exhibit inspires children to adopt six high principles forged by the Tuskegee airmen: Aim High, Believe in Yourself, Use Your Brain, Be Ready to Go, Never Quit and Expect to Win.
On Mar. 7-8, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the “Rise Above” traveling exhibit will include a mobile theater with a 160-degree panoramic screen creating the sensation of flying in the cockpit of a P51c Mustang fighter and telling the dramatic story of America’s first squadron of black airmen.
A restored P51, signature aircraft will be on static display Saturday and Sunday with special rates in effect for museum visitors, including complimentary admission for members of the armed forces with valid military-issued ID.
