Student art auction to raise funds for The Education FundThe Education Fund will honor the achievements of 15 public school graduates and showcase the artistic talents in Miami-Dade County schools at the “For the Love of Art Charity Auction and Honoree Celebration” presented by Ocean Bank on Monday, May 22, at Jungle Island, 1111 at Parrot Jungle Trail.

The Education Fund will auction off more than 100 pieces of original artwork created by public school students and art teachers using materials found at the organization’s Ocean Bank Center for Educational Materials. The center serves as an 11,000-square-foot school supply depot where educators stock up on free materials for their classes.

Guests will enjoy live music, an open bar, and an epicurean feast catered by award-winning culinary teams from Miami-Dade County Public Schools. The proceeds from the sale of the artwork will fund visual arts programs at the school where each piece was created.

Proceeds from the sale of luxury items up for bid will support The Education Fund’s free school supplies warehouse, the Ocean Bank Center for Educational Materials, that ensures more than 200,000 students each year have learning tools they need to be successful.

“For the Love of Art celebrates the talent in our public schools. So many businesspeople tell me they have pieces on their walls from our prior art auction and guests always are amazed that they were created by students,” said Linda Lecht, president of The Education Fund. “The event also celebrates that many of our business executives, community leaders, and entrepreneurs graduated from public schools. We want everyone to see that a public-school education can take you places.”

The Education Fund will cap off the evening by celebrating the 2023 Public School Alumni Achievement Award honorees. The Education Fund’s board of directors selected each honoree for his/her professional accomplishments and impact on the economic vitality of Miami-Dade County.
