The Palace Gardens, an assisted living and memory care community in Homestead, recently hosted a successful back-to-school event, demonstrating the power of community and creativity. Through the artistic talents of the residents, whose beautiful paintings were sold at Family & Friends events throughout the year, funds were raised to provide essential school supplies, including a tablet, for 45 students from the Homestead area involved with This is For the Kids Inc.

The event featured a motivational speech by Carol Hughes, who shared her passion for education and the importance of community support. Students enjoyed a festive atmosphere complete with a live DJ, vibrant balloon décor, and banners. Activities such as bowling, cornhole, hula hoop, and pickleball kept the children entertained while they savored treats from the ice cream and cotton candy stations.
Jacob Shaham, CEO & Founder of The Palace Group, and Homestead Councilman Larry Roth, founder of This is For the Kids Inc., attended the event to emphasize the importance of supporting education. The event successfully brought together children, their parents, and Palace Gardens residents, highlighting the transformative impact of the community’s efforts.

“This event was a testament to the idea that age is no barrier to making a difference,” said Alejandro Medina, Director of Activities at The Palace Gardens, “Each year, we’re able to help more local children, and we plan to continue this tradition of giving back.”
