COVID-19 did not put a damper on the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD)’s annual Every Drop Counts Water Conservation Poster Contest.

In the 13th year of hosting the contest, WASD staff reviewed the artwork of 1,153 area artists submitted from 62 elementary schools depicting the theme “Be a Hero, Waste Zero.”

“After much deliberation, we selected 13 winning posters from each county commission district,” said WASD interim director Josenrique Cueto, PE. “Despite the challenges our students have undergone throughout the last school year, it is heart warming to see so many young people care about the environment and this vital natural resource.”

The winning entries can be viewed in a photo gallery on the department’s website.

The following are the winning students for each county commission district:
District 1 – Lucas R. Parra
District 2 – Azaliah Zemirah Baptiste
District 3 – Farah A. Martinez
District 4 – Michelle Ravello
District 5 – Ricardo Gonzalez
District 6 – Erika Fonseca Sanchez
District 7 – Nicholas Arias
District 8 – Alyssa Sanchez
District 9 – Emely Cruz
District 10 – Brianna Lopez
District 11 – Antonella Sabatino
District 12 – Lorenzo Jose Carnero
District 13 – Emily Garcia
