One day in 2024, Ryan Guerra took a look at the assortment of expensive tools gathering dust in his shed and had an epiphany.
“I thought, since I’m not using them, why not make my tools available for others to use and earn a little cash at the same time?” he says.
And with that idea swirling around in his brain, ToolBevy was born.
Guerra describes ToolBevy as a fast-growing peer-to-peer rental and marketplace app that lets users rent or buy power tools, landscaping gear, fire and water restoration equipment, and even heavy machinery.
Getting started with ToolBevy begins with downloading the app from the Apple App Store. Users can list tools for rent or sale, browse available equipment nearby, and even promote their business directly through the platform.
“It’s a tool-sharing community that empowers people to save money, reduce waste and support their neighbors and local businesses,” he says. Whether you need a power drill for the weekend or want to sell equipment you’re no longer using, ToolBevy makes it simple.”
Customers can search for tools within a certain radius of their home and by price, and some tools can even be delivered directly, if the renter offers that service. Package rentals for projects requiring multiple tools are also available, and users can rent heavy equipment with an operator as well. Guerra personally approves every listing on ToolBevy to maintain the quality and integrity of the user experience.
Financial transactions are handled directly through the app, and ToolBevy offers 24-hour customer support and a five dollar discount on the first rental. All users have to do is enter WELCOME5 to receive the discount.
Guerra, 51, a Miami native who lives in Cutler Bay with his wife and two children, has a background in marketing and is a do-it-yourself enthusiast. He spent four months building the app, teaching himself to code and edit along the way.
Outside of the app, Guerra also runs a popular YouTube channel with over 16,000 subscribers and more than 1,300 videos, where he shares DIY tips and home improvement projects.
“ToolBevy is disrupting the traditional retail tool rental market and the feedback we’ve received proves that the app went live at just the right time,” he says.
