The Miami Inferno, Miami’s newest entry into Indoor Football, recently launched its inaugural season.
After an opening game on the road against the Florida Tarpons in Fort Myers the Inferno began its Ultimate Indoor Football League (UIFL) home schedule on Sunday, May 25, against the Missouri Voodoo.
The Inferno’s owners, Chad and Amber Dittman, bring a long history of experience in Indoor Football. Chad Dittman has owned teams in Texas and Alaska in other Indoor Football leagues.
The head coach of The Inferno is long time Miami resident Pete Taylor, father of former UM and Washington Redskin player Sean Taylor. Coach Taylor has succeeded as a football coach at many different levels.
“We have some great players who are working hard and will put on a great show for our fans,” Coach Taylor said.
Dittman has added Harold Cole as his general manager. Cole brings many years of experience as a football coach and administrator at the high school and college level.
“I feel that we have everything in place to compete for the league championship in our first year,” Cole said.
The roster is filled with many former college and NFL players including Eric Perri, Jabari Ferguson and Joel Lemons.
Indoor football is a fast paced, exciting game. The teams consist of eight players on the field at a time on each team and it is regular tackle football. The Inferno will be playing all of its home games at the Bank United Center on The University of Miami campus. The team will be playing on the only orange turf field in the United States. The fans are very close to the players and really feel a part of the action. It is not uncommon for a player to jump for a pass and end up in the stands. Any football that goes into the stands may be kept by the spectator who catches it — very similar to baseball. There are a lot of features to add fun and excitement to the games. The Inferno dancers and cheerleaders are a true show in themselves.
There will be many giveaways and fun things for all ages throughout the game. After each home game fans are invited to come down onto the field to meet the players, dancers and cheerleaders and get autographs.
All home games are on Sunday afternoons at 5:05 p.m. The remaining home games will be played on June 8, June 15 and June 29. Indoor football is a great way to get your early football fix before the outdoor season begins.
Ticket prices start at $15.
