Unresolved Grief With Dr. Karen Reed

On Vets and Badges Podcast Reverend Dr. Karen Reed, grief specialist, describes grief in a way that most have not heard before. But once you watch this episode, you will not forget the many variations of grief and how it affects all of us. Although the conversation focuses on grief experienced by 1st Responders, front line workers, and veterans it provides greater understanding of the grief we all face due to losses experienced in everyday life.

Dr. Reed is a pastor at the “Purple Church” in Richmond Heights (Miami) along with her husband, Reverend Dr. Anthony Reed. Her goal is to help those find a resolution; to help them find a way to heal from the grief they are experiencing. Dr. Reed explains it could be the loss of a loved one, which we are all familiar with. But it could also be the loss of a job or perhaps even the loss of a car.

One person’s grief, no matter what it may be, could very well mean nothing to the next person, due to the variations of grief and our responses to it.

Dr. Reed explains disenfranchised. The conversation also delves into vicarious grief that you obtain, by being in contact with those experiencing the grief. How can we change our mindsets? That is the main question here and every attempt is made to answer it. Conversations approach those who serve the community and country such as military, law enforcement, fire fighters, front line hospital workers to look into their grief. And we come to find, it is often like what the rest of the community faces to one extent or another.

This is an episode that can very well set you on the path toward betterment.
