Nearly 1 in 10 U.S. women of reproductive age has difficulty getting pregnant or staying pregnant.
With the development of expanded treatment options for those faced with these and other pregnancy-related challenges, Walgreens now is offering fertility education services at its drugstore at 11700 SW 104 St. in Kendall. This location is one of a select group of Walgreens pharmacies throughout the country with pharmacists specially trained in the fertility therapy process.
Beyond the ability to stock, dispense and manage fertility medications, the pharmacy offers fertility education, confidential in-person consultations and support from specially trained pharmacists. Walgreens pharmacists coordinate with patients’ healthcare teams and provide these services from the time they start treatment through the entire course of therapy.
“The addition of expanded pharmacy education services for the fertility therapy process offers patients a high-touch, personalized and specialized service from a pharmacist who can also be an integral part of their care team,” said Ana de la Huerta, Walgreens pharmacy manager. “The patientpharmacist relationship can be very instrumental in helping to improve medication adherence by helping patients manage their treatment, and feel comfortable working with their pharmacist for information, advice and support.”
