Baptist Health and Zoo Miami have announced that registration for the 10th annual ZooRun has opened officially.
Benefiting West Kendall Baptist Hospital and the Zoo Miami Foundation, this year’s event will feature ZooRun5K, ZooKidsDash, Virtual ZooRun5K and an all-new ZooRun10K in celebration of the race’s 10th anniversary. The event invites participants to experience Zoo Miami in an engaging and active way while supporting two South Florida anchor organizations.
Taking place on Oct. 8, the 10th anniversary ZooRun will offer a variety of exciting race options to appeal to all ages and skill levels. The fan-favorite 3.1-mile ZooRun5K will be an open race for both runners and walkers that will span the entire zoo, whereas the ZooKidsDash is specifically for children ages 2-9, ranging from 100 to 400 meters. New to the annual event is the limited edition ZooRun10K, which already has sold out and will include an exciting course, ultra-premium race shirt, and placer medals for the participants in each age category. There also will be a virtual option available for those who are unable to attend in-person.
“West Kendall Baptist Hospital is proud to continue partnering with Zoo Miami and celebrate the 10th anniversary of ZooRun. Through our Healthy West Kendall initiative, which inspires our community to live healthier lives, we invite everyone to register online and enjoy this special event where we can exercise, spend time outdoors and enjoy the incredible sights of the beautiful animals,” said Lourdes Boue, CEO, West Kendall Baptist Hospital.
“Zoo Miami Foundation is honored to partner with West Kendall Baptist Hospital for the past 10 years. The ZooRun brings both serious and fun runners together to underscore the importance of taking care of ourselves with exercise as well as enjoying nature. Zoo Miami provides a unique backdrop for the run, making it a one-of-a-kind run that so many look forward to,” said Bill Moore, president and CEO, Zoo Miami Foundation.
At the completion of the race, all participants will receive complimentary admission to Zoo Miami for the day. The event is subject to change based on CDC, Miami-Dade County and Baptist Health guidelines.
The event will take place on-site at Zoo Miami, located at 12400 SW 152 St., Miami, FL 33177. ZooRun5K and ZooRun10K participants should plan to arrive no later than 7 a.m., while ZooKidsDash participants and families should plan to arrive no later than 8 a.m. To learn more and register, visit ZooMiami.org/Run.
Proceeds from ZooRun registrations will benefit Healthy West Kendall, a community-based initiative powered by West Kendall Baptist Hospital. Healthy West Kendall programs include the Healthy Hub — a free wellness and referral-to-care kiosk located in the main lobby of West Kendall Baptist Hospital and the Grow2Heal Garden — a healthy food garden harvested to heal hospital patients and serve the neighboring community. Additionally, proceeds will benefit Zoo Miami Foundation’s education and conservation programs, such as the Conservation Teen Scientist Program, camps and volunteer programs.
