YMCA of S. Florida names new chief financial officer

Mark Guthrie has been named chief financial officer of the YMCA of South Florida.

Guthrie brings extensive experience in finance, accounting and banking as well as in capital projects and grant funding, technology and software systems. Prior to joining the YMCA, Guthrie served as chief financial officer and vice president of technology with Banyan Health Systems in Miami.

“We are exceptionally fortunate to have someone of Mark’s caliber join our growing organization,” said Sheryl A. Woods, YMCA of South Florida president and CEO. “His wide-ranging expertise in finance and technology will benefit our members and our community as the YMCA of South Florida continues to enhance the services we provide.”

Previously, Guthrie was CFO of Berkowitz Pollack Brant PA in Miami and Goldstein Schechter Koch PA in Coral Gables. He began his career in finance as finance director for the technology services group at Fidelity National Information Services in Jacksonville, a Fortune 500 company. This was preceded by six years as finance and technology director for Spherion, a Fort Lauderdale-based staffing services firm.

Guthrie served in the United States Air Force for seven years, where he was an instructor in the Space Systems Technical School at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, CO.

Guthrie grew up in Miami and attended North Miami Senior High School. He received his undergraduate degrees in marketing and management from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s in finance and accounting from Florida International University.
