Zoo Miami Foundation (ZMF) has announced the newly expanded Adult Volunteer Program which launched on Jan. 9.
Volunteers have been integral to Zoo Miami Foundation, Zoo Miami, and the guest experience at the zoo since the program was initiated in 1956. With the restructuring of the Adult Volunteer Program, Zoo Miami Foundation is committed fully to improving the experience of its volunteers, welcoming more volunteers than ever before, and providing new and exciting ways for volunteers to make an impact at Zoo Miami.
The new program will be more accessible to the community, including college students and those who only spend part of their year in the Miami-Dade area. The foundation has opened new volunteer opportunities and enhanced current areas, made onboarding more accessible with weekly orientations, and enabled the ability for volunteers to choose the areas in which they prefer to work. Zoo Miami and Zoo Miami Foundation could not be more excited for the rebirth of the new and improved Adult Volunteer Program.
“We are extremely pleased with our revamped adult volunteer program and invite all adults, 18 years and older to join our pride as we enhance guest experiences and help support Zoo Miami,” said Lissette Chatel, ZMF director of Learning Experiences.
Volunteering at Zoo Miami is a great way to get involved in your local community. Adult volunteers are at the forefront of guest experience, making meaningful contacts with nearly a million guests each year. Opportunities include assisting the Animal Science team in the Wacky Barn, helping to prepare animal diets in the zoo’s kitchen, assisting guests as an ambassador, and much more.
In addition to feeling good about sharing your time and making new friends, volunteers also receive other benefits like discounts throughout the zoo on food and souvenirs and free admission, among other things.
