Zoo Miami Foundation has announced the appointment of Jennifer Dominguez to the new position of chief advancement officer.
A dynamic nonprofit leader with over six years of experience in strategic development, corporate partnerships, and mission-driven fundraising, Dominguez brings a proven track record of success and a deep personal connection to Zoo Miami.
Most recently serving as vice president of development at the American Heart Association, Dominguez led comprehensive fundraising efforts across Miami-Dade and Broward counties. She spearheaded major campaigns including Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and South Florida Heart Ball, while cultivating relationships with corporate leaders and community stakeholders to further health equity and organizational impact.
“Joining Zoo Miami Foundation isn’t just a professional milestone — it’s personal,” Dominguez said. “This zoo was part of my childhood, a place where I first discovered the wonder of wildlife and the beauty of our natural world. Now, I have the privilege of giving back to the very place that helped shape me.
“This isn’t just a zoo in our community; it’s my community, our backyard, and a powerful space where education, conservation, and connection come to life. I’m honored to help lead this next chapter and build something extraordinary for generations to come,” she concluded.
Dominguez’s career began in the corporate sector with A&E Television Networks, where she gained expertise in research, analytics, and sales strategy. She holds certifications in business strategy, management, and Six Sigma, and is recognized for her leadership in mentoring teams, driving innovation, and fostering inclusive, mission-aligned cultures.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Jennifer for over six years in my capacity as a board member and chair at the American Heart Association,” said Jose Romano.Zoo Miami Foundation president and CEO. “Her combination of experience, passion, and dedication to the growth of the team she manages will be a great fit at Zoo Miami Foundation.”
As the chief of advancement, Dominguez will oversee fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and community partnerships in support of Zoo Miami Foundation’s mission to connect people with wildlife and conservation efforts both locally and globally.
