Clinics’ for active adults 55-plus returning to parksThe Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department in partnership with Walgreens is hosting a new series of “Healthy Choices Clinics” in September-October- November, as part of its lineup of free health-driven recreational programming, for “Active Older Adults” age 55 and older.

The health-fair style clinics will include no-cost blood pressure checks and flu shots, complimentary snacks and gifts, as well as a registered pharmacist to speak to about personal medications.

Pneumonia, shingles and tetanus vaccinations also will be available and may require a charge, depending on the individual’s health insurance coverage. Participants are required to bring their insurance cards with them to the clinics.

Started in 2013, Miami-Dade County Parks’ Active Older Adults Program is designed to help older adults improve their well-being by consistently staying physically active.
