      — 12 artists will exhibit one-of-a-kind art projects and installations at area hotels with $35,000 in prize money up for grabs during Art Week Miami Beach —

Miami Beach, FL– The City of Miami Beach, in collaboration with the Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority (MBVCA) and the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), is pleased to announce the return of No Vacancy, Miami Beach — a juried art competition that supports and celebrates local artists, provokes critical discourse and encourages the public to experience Miami Beach’s famed hotels as art destinations. For the sixth edition of the competition, No Vacancy, Miami Beach 2025 will include 12 participating artists and collectives that will present site-specific works at 12 different hotels around Miami Beach. The works will be displayed from November 13, 2025 to December 20, 2025.

Each selected artist or collective will receive $10,000 commission to create an installation at an assigned hotel. A call to artists is issued by the City and participants are selected by a Committee composed of representatives from the City of Miami Beach Art in Public Places Committee, Cultural Arts Council and MBVCA.

For the sixth iteration, two prizes will be awarded, totaling $35,000: a $10,000 public prize presented by the GMCVB and a $25,000 juried prize selected by a panel of art world professionals.

Participating Hotels and Projects No Vacancy, Miami Beach 2025:

      • Avalon Hotel / Andrea Myers — Artist Andrea Myers presents “A Soft Pixelation,” a textile-based installation composed of hundreds of repurposed, donated T-shirts sewn into a pixelated patchwork field.
      • The Betsy Hotel / Liz’N Bow — Collaborative duo Liz’N Bow presents “Portal to Niña,” an installation that transforms the iconic Betsy Egg into an entryway to the artists’ surreal, femme-centered universe.
      • Cadillac Hotel & Beach Club / Denise Treizman — Artist Denise Treizman presents “Wish You Were Here,” a large-scale tapestry woven from pool noodles and playful found objects.
      • Casa Faena/ Pepe Mar — Artist Pepe Mar presents “Tropical stomping grounds,” an immersive installation that reimagines 15 years of his work—much of it inspired by South Beach ephemera—into a vibrant self-portrait.
      • The Catalina Hotel & Beach Club / Edison Peñafiel — Artist Edison Peñafiel presents “Florida Florarium,” a monumental textile installation composed of a suspended garden of elongated fabric banners.
      • International Inn on the Bay / Nathalie Alfonso — Artist Nathalie Alfonso presents “BayScape—,” a light drawing that transforms the second-floor window band into a translucent, ever-shifting landscape mirroring the bay beyond.
      • Kimpton Surfcomber / Patty Suau — Artist Patty Suau presents “Unexpected Encounters,” an interactive installation that merges mirrors with life-size figure drawings to create optical illusions evoking moments of affection.
      • The Miami Beach EDITION / Amanda Linares — Artist Amanda Linares presents “Tierra Húmeda,” an installation of clay tiles and graphite drawings on wood that explores the intertwined relationship between land and memory.
      • Nautilus Sonesta Miami Beach / Evelyn Sosa — Artist Evelyn Sosa presents “No Place is Far Away,” a living archive of migration that begins with a simple yet profound question: What object did you take with you when you emigrated?
      • Riviera Suites South Beach / Fabiola Larios — Artist Fabiola Larios presents “Heartware,” a suspended constellation of pink piñatas studded with screens, mirrors, and live-feed cameras.
      • The Shelborne by Proper / Lee Pivnik — Artist Lee Pivnik presents “Wellspring,” an installation that traces the flow of water through the Floridian landscape: its capacity to hold memory, shape ecosystems, and foreshadow the region’s future.
      • Sherry Frontenac Hotel / James Sprang — Artist James Sprang presents “Take Me Home,” an immersive installation honoring the vibrant spirit, cultural depth, and communal joy of Caribbean carnival.

Funding for this project is provided by the City of Miami Beach Cultural Arts Council, Miami Beach Visitor and Convention Authority as well as the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau. For additional information, please visit mbartsandculture.org.
