The art and financial worlds have been a buzz over NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) – “a new method for digitally buying and selling art and other media. These crypto-assets represent the latest blockchain-based boom: Three years ago, the entire NFT market was worth no more than $42 million. By the end of 2020, it had grown 705% to $338 million in value, according to the latest estimate from Nonfungible.com, which monitors the NFT marketplace.” (Source: Forbes).
You may ask yourself, “what is all the craze about, how is it transforming how artists produce and sell their work, and how can I get in on it?!”
All your questions will be answered at WYN 317 this Friday (6:30 – 9 PM). Join panelists Gabriel Gimenez, Katie Kansas, Kerry McLaney, Dunny, and moderator Ivan Roque (Bios Below) for an in-depth panel discussion walking you through the basics of blockchain domain NFTs and what they mean for the art world.
This event will be hosted outdoors Friday, April 9, 6:30-9 PM at WYN 317 Gallery (4320 NW 2 AVE, Miami, FL 33127) and virtually on Facebook Live.
About the Panelists & Moderator:
Gabriel “GG” Gimenez is a Venezuelan-born, Miami-based visual artist. His first artistic manifestations appeared in his childhood in the form of doodles and progressed through his growing interest in painting, digital art, large-scale mural installations, documentary productions, and entrepreneurial ventures. As a visual artist, GG’s work is inspired by the conscious knowledge of one’s own vulnerabilities as a positive force. His characters embody an undeniable presence that yells out at you from within the canvas. His pieces often allude to pop culture items and themes in a unique and vivid manner through vibrant color schemes and stylistic details. Self-taught, GG has been recognized and praised for his works at an international scale, varying from art fairs, gallery showings, private events, Emmy award winning production and collaborative projects with brands like Youtube, Airbnb, Adidas and Perrier amongst many. The connection and relationship he maintains with his art and process is a consistent driving force behind the artist he is today.
