Half of Each Registration Fee Goes Straight to Participant’s Charity of Choice
Designed to help cash-strapped charitable organizations and schools raise funds, the revolutionary 5K PARK Fest is bringing its message of kindness and service to Miami Beach on Sunday, November 2nd.
PARK Project, the non-profit behind the event, is a volunteer-driven movement whose mission is to inspire people to “PARK” (Perform Acts of Random Kindness). The 5k PARK Fest is their signature event, and the concept earned third place in the 2013 Miami Herald Business Plan Challenge. Originally launched in 2011 in honor of the tenth anniversary of 9/11, the 5K continues its tradition of honoring service — both that of servicemen and women and dedicated volunteers.
In conjunction with the City of Miami Beach’s centennial celebration, this historic and ground-breaking event is the first 5K ever to be held in North Beach, with the ultimate goal of revitalizing and branding it as a healthy & active lifestyle community.
Presented by Terra Group, South Florida’s premiere real estate development company, the inspirational event is expected to draw 5,000 participants, with half of each $40 registration fee going straight to the participant’s charity of choice. That will leave $20 per participant in the pockets of philanthropic groups, resulting in an estimated $200,000 in total funds raised in its first year!
“We’re thrilled to offer this community building & fundraising vehicle to all worthwhile organizations & causes in our community!” says Marly Quincoces, founder of PARK Project. “Our mission was to create an annual event that would inspire people to leave their mark and PARK for whatever cause moves them and also shine the spotlight on the kind philanthropic efforts happening across South Florida every day.”
Anyone can start or join a team for the 5K PARK Fest to support their chosen nonprofit, school, civic and/or faith based organization. Participating teams are encouraged to inspire family, friends and supporters to join their fundraising efforts and run, jog, walk or simply cheer along the course. The bigger the team, the more cash for the cause!
In addition to fundraising and fun running the 5K, the free PARK Fest will feature sunrise yoga, live tunes, kid’s run & activities, an awards presentation, raffles and giveaways, beach volleyball, live art and tons of other activities for all ages! Top sponsors include Coca-Cola Refreshments, StarMar Events, brandQ and Fit2Run among others. South Floridians are encouraged to “leave their mark and PARK” for this one-of-akind event.
The 5K PARK Fest takes place on November 2nd from 6 a.m. to 3:05 p.m. at the North Shore Bandshell, Collins Ave & 73rd. Visit www.5KPARKFest.org to learn more, register your organization as a benefitting cause and start or join a team!
