On Sunday, March 20, 2011 Fotomission will host at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden the 7th South Beach Photomarathon an exciting event that is open to all who wish to participate. Entry fee is $50 or $30 for students.
Participants will be assigned six topics to photograph on South Beach over a period of five hours.
To qualify participants must complete all twelve (12) exposures in the proper sequence.
The topics will be kept secret until the event day and will be purposefully vague to give the contestants plenty of room for self-expression.
The photographs will be judged by a panel of photography professors from Barry University and the Miami Ad School. The judges will review the works with greater emphasis on creativity, but also on composition and other technical aspects of photography. The best photos from each topic will be selected, and from those the first, second, third place winners, as well as three honorable mentions, will be awarded cash and other prizes. All the entrants’ photos will be exhibited at the Tropicolor Gallery during the month of May.
The exhibition opening and award ceremony will be on Friday, May 6, 2011 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Tropicolor, 1442 Alton Road, Miami Beach.
