I wanted to thank everyone who attended and helped make our Gala a huge success. Despite the storm that led up to the event, the clouds cleared right before we opened the doors and I’m so glad we were able to finally have it after two cancellations due to Covid-19. I want to thank the honorees and our Vice Chairs Alfredo Gonzalez, Seth Feuer and Rich Segal for helping with planning the event. We were also able to raise thousands of dollars that were given to the Global Empowerment Mission, led by Michael Capponi a Gala honoree, for Ukrainian Relief efforts. It felt really good to get together, raise money for good causes and dance the night away.
Additionally, the Ocean Drive Association will again host fireworks and a bring back a free patriotic concert with a full orchestra on the Fourth of July taking place in Lummus Park on Miami Beach’s historic Ocean Drive starting at 8:30 p.m. The Miami Beach Classical Music Festival (MBCMF), an intensive training program for the next generation of classical musicians to work with world-renowned mentors and gain professional performing experience, collaborates with the Ocean Drive Association for the performance.
Finally, I would like to recognize the Chamber’s Law Council Co-Chairs Linsey Lovell and Morgan Geller for organizing a “Meet your Judicial Candidates Night” done in collaboration with the Miami Beach Bar Association. Since there are so many exceptional candidates running, we have created two separate virtual events. On July 25, we will be hosting the 11th Circuit Court Judges and, on August 1, we will be inviting Miami Dade County Court Judicial Candidates to join us. On August 3rd, we will be having our Elayne Weisburd Teacher of the Year program at the W Hotel, which is sponsored by FPL. After a three year hiatus, it will be nice to honor one exceptional educator from each of the Miami Beach public schools.
