Pathman Lewis, LLP has changed its name to Pathman Schermer Tandy, LLP as Richard Schermer and Aaron Tandy are now name partners.
“Richard and Aaron have been key members of our team and essential to the firm’s growth over the past 20-plus years,” said managing partner Wayne Pathman.
Schermer, who has practiced law for over 30 years, is the leader of the firm’s real estate practice and its retail development group, a multi-disciplinary, collaborative team of attorneys. The firm’s real estate practice is highly sophisticated, handling a broad range of real estate acquisitions, development, financing, leasing and related matters and the retail development group specializes in all areas of industry specific retail development matters including acquisition, development, leasing, financing, land use and zoning, brokering, and enforcement of all retail development agreements for all forms of real estate offering a retail component.
Schermer represents developers, investors, lenders and users of commercial real estate (institutional, mid-size and entrepreneurial clients) in the acquisition, financing, development, leasing and sale of all types of real estate projects and developments across all asset classes.
Schermer is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest standard in attorney ratings for strong legal ability and high ethical standards. He was selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2014-2022 editions of the Best Lawyers in America in the area of Real Estate Law and named among the Most Effective Lawyers by the Daily Business Review in 2005, for his role as lead real estate counsel in several of the largest and most significant real estate transactions in Florida.
Tandy leads the firm’s Employment Law and Litigation Sections. He has extensive experience handling trials and appeals involving sophisticated and complex matters in state and federal courts.
In addition, Tandy consults with businesses looking to comply with federal and state antitrust laws, including the establishment of domestic and international distribution agreements and joint ventures.
Tandy is a nationally recognized speaker on aspects of employment law. He is the current Chair of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and was recently elected to the Board of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce.
Partner David Sacks was recently appointed co-chair of the Miami-Dade Bar’s Environmental and land Use Law Committee. Sacks provides legal advice for the negotiation and structuring of major land acquisitions, determination of zoning and property rights and entitlements, and due diligence analysis for complex commercial and residential real estate acquisitions including the securing of required development permits and approvals.
