The Miami Beach Botanical Garden is pleased to announce a one-night only multisensory installation from artist Natasha Tomchin. The public is invited to meet the artist and view her work at a cocktail reception on Thursday, September 21, from 6pm-9pm, during the monthly Miami Beach Culture Crawl.

Artist, designer and coder Natasha Tomchin focuses on immersive installations, projection mapping, digital art, dichroic sculptures and environmental architecture. Inspired by clouds and lush flora, her art draws directly from her surroundings in an effort to connect more deeply with nature by discovering the value in everyday moments. These feelings and sensations translate across code art, painted furniture, sculpture, video, and projection installations.

Inspired by, and working with, fellow artist Beatriz Chachamovits’ environmentally themed coral sculptures, Natasha maps video art projections and code based graphics onto Beatriz’s hand made clay sculptures. The pairing creates a hypnotic visual effect as the “bleached” coral goes through simulated life cycles modulated by video that cascades across the installation. The experience is enhanced by a custom scent created by UFO Parfums and sound design by Charles Levine, one half of the well-known DJ duo Soul Clap.

The evening will also include dichroic flora sculpture installations on the grounds of the Garden, special guest DJs, and custom cocktails at the Botanical Bar. Free to attend – please RSVP by visiting the Garden’s website or Eventbrite.

Natasha is also the September artist in the Garden’s Butterfly Gallery. Her exhibition, “Don’t Forget to Look Around” is available for viewing until October 1.
