Israel Bonds Panel Discussion on ‘Investment in Israel’ to Follow Breakfast The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) will host its Quarterly Pillar Breakfast on Friday, April 25, 2014 at The Alexander All-Suites Oceanfront Resort with Florida’s Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater as the guest speaker. Sponsored by Economic Development Consultants, the event will host over 100 professionals from all areas of business.
Immediately following the breakfast, the Chamber and Israel Bonds will be hosting a panel discussion on “Investment in Israel” that is open to the public and at no cost. The distinguished panel will include the following individuals: CFO Atwater, Miami Beach Mayor Philip Levine, Eli Groner, Israel’s Minister of Economic Affairs to the United States and Lyon Roth, Southeast Florida Israel Bonds Chairman. Development Corporation for Israel, commonly known as Israel Bonds, is a brokerdealer that underwrites securities issued by the State of Israel in the United States. In 2013, U.S. Israel bond investments surpassed $1.12 billion, an unprecedented domestic sales achievement. Israel bonds are included in the portfolios of a diverse array of investors. Global sales since the first Israel bonds were issued in 1951 have exceeded $36 billion.

A fifth-generation Floridian, Atwater was elected Florida’s Chief Financial Officer on November 2, 2010, and sworn into office on January 4, 2011. Since assuming office, Atwater’s priorities have been to aggressively eliminate the fraud that increases the cost of living for Floridians, reduce regulations that inhibit job growth and economic expansion, expand his earlier efforts at fiscal transparency and governmental accountability, and protect the state’s most vulnerable citizens from financial harm and abuse.
Eli Groner is Israel’s Minister for Economic Affairs in the United States. Groner came to this key diplomatic role by way of the private sector, where he worked in private equity and management consulting. Groner has served as a special advisor to the Chairman of Tnuva, one of Israel’s largest food manufacturers and distributors. He successfully developed and oversaw implementation of its three-year business and marketing strategic plan. From 2003-2009, Groner was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he served many Fortune 1000 corporations from around the world, as well as many of Israel’s leading companies. Groner focused on strategy, marketing and operations for some of the world’s leading technology, healthcare, financial services, and consumer packaged goods companies. He began his career as a journalist with The Jerusalem Post where he wrote about finance and economics correspondent and oversaw digital content for the paper’s website.
For almost 30 years, Mayor Philip Levine has been an integral member of the Miami Beach community. Over the years, Philip has established a number of successful Miami Beach-based businesses, creating hundreds of job opportunities for local and area residents while contributing to the city’s tax-revenue base. In November 2013, Philip was elected Mayor of Miami Beach. He received 50.48% of the total vote in a four-person race.
Lyon (“Lenny”) Roth is Senior Vice President at UBS Financial Services in Aventura, Florida and a member of the Israeli Consulate’s Speakers Bureau and Chairs Israel Bonds for Southeast Florida. He speaks frequently on topics relating to Israel, the political and economic climate in the Middle East, energy security and environmental sustainability. Prior to joining UBS, Lyon was a private wealth manager at Merrill Lynch and Sanford Bernstein. He began his professional career as a mergers and acquisitions attorney with Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz in New York and then spent six years as a senior executive at Koor Industries in Tel-Aviv, Israel.
The quarterly breakfast will begin at 8:00 am and end at 10:00 am with the Israel Bonds panel beginning immediately after.
