The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) hosted over 150 golfers at its 17th annual “Golf Classic” on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Miami Beach Golf Club. Coming in 1st place was the First Residential Service team, in 2nd place was the Warren Henry Automotive Group and in 3rd place was the Jackson Insurance Agency team. A special thank you to Boucher Brothers Management, the tournament’s title sponsor, and Dr. Ino Halegua’s Cardiology Center, the presenting sponsor, of the all day event that started at 11:00 am and went into the evening with a dinner and awards reception.
The golfers were treated to lunch on the terrace, courtesy of Epicure Market, and a fun filled day on the course with two Epicure Market All Day 19th Hole Grills, sponsored cocktail bars provided by Premier Beverage, and lots of networking. In addition to a great round of golf, each hole was graciously sponsored by a different company, adding an additional 20 hole sponsors to the course, who helped charm our golfers, including 4 sponsored Hole-In-Ones from Warren Henry Auto. The highlight for golfers was not only the party on each hole, but the golf ball launcher on hole 16 that players used to shoot their drives in the hopes of making a hole in one, which additionally supported the Chamber’s foundation.
The Chamber’s Chairman and SVP of Gibraltar Private Bank & Trust Michael S. Goldberg presented, on behalf of the Miami Beach Chamber Education Foundation, a $10,000 check to the City of Miami Beach accepted by City Manager Jimmy Morales. The funds will be used to support programming costs for the International Baccalaureate (IB) program available at all the public schools in the City of Miami Beach feeder pattern. The IB Program helps develop the intellectual, personal, emotional, and social skills of students from age 3 to 19 and give them the necessary tools to live, learn, and work in a rapidly globalizing world. In addition, the Chamber’s Education Foundation will use additional funds raised to complete its mission to support the needs of public education by donating scholarship funds to graduating seniors from Miami Beach Senior High School at the end of the school year.
Once again this year, the Miami Beach Chamber Education Foundation will support graduating seniors from Miami Beach Senior High School with scholarships to continue their education. A panel of judges will review the applications submitted and select four extremely qualified young students. The scholarship winners will be announced in May at a ceremony in the Miami Beach Senior High School auditorium.
