International Music and Video Producer Emilio Estefan to be honored with Aaron B. Perry Innovation in Business Award

A new award, created specifically for the 2011 Champions of Business Awards Luncheon, will honor one individual who has pioneered an effective strategy for business on Miami Beach and the surrounding community.

A successful mix of philanthropic efforts paired with professional and personal triumphs have earned Emilio Estefan, Founder and CEO of Estefan Enterprises, the prestigious Aaron B. Perry Innovation in Business Award. Estefan’s continual success as a musician, producer, creator, visionary and more have earned him a distinguished place in the community and the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce wishes to recognize his positive accomplishments and innovative style of business. Miami Beach is a center for global commerce and the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce has traditionally been the economic voice for all businesses related to this area.

Estefan’s successful approach to business has always included a part of his Latin roots, from blending Latin, pop and world rhythms to create a unique style into his introduction to the hospitality and restaurant industry. Estefan purchased South Beach’s Cardozo Hotel after envisioning Miami as an International destination and continued on to open Lario’s on the Beach, a Cuban cuisine restaurant, and Bongo’s Cuban Café in Orlando, Miami and recently opened Fort Lauderdale location.

Emilio has been instrumental in shaping, developing and directing the careers of his superstar wife, Gloria as well as Shakira, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, Jon Secada, Alejandro Fernandez, Thalia, Carlos Vives, and Jennifer López, among many others. His resume includes over 30 Grammy nominations and 19 Grammy Awards and in 2002, President George W. Bush appointed Emilio as a member of the President’s Committee on the Arts and Humanities. Most recently, he was tapped by President Barack Obama to the committee that will create the first National Museum of the American Latino.

Among the many awards and honors that Emilio has received are his Honorary Doctorate degrees from Barry University, University of Miami, Florida International University and Berkley School of Music. He also received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award by the Songwriters Hall of Fame and was awarded the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2009. In 2005, Emilio received the BMI Songwriter of the Year award and a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Emilio was appointed by President George W. Bush to the board of trustees of The Kennedy Center in 2007.

The Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce will host the Champions of Business Award Luncheon on January 26th, 2010 at 11:00AM at Eden Roc Renaissance Miami Beach, located at 4525 Collins Ave., Miami Beach. The annual event recognizes the accomplishments of exceptional business professionals that help build and strengthen the foundation of the Miami Beach community and its surrounding areas. This year’s luncheon is being sponsored by BB&T.

The Champions of Business Award Luncheon is open to the public. Tickets are available starting at $45 for pillar members, $50 for members and $60 for guests, with sponsorship opportunities available starting at $650.
