For close to a decade, La Boulangerie Boul’Mich has been a go-to spot for those in the know seeking delicious, freshly-made French and Latin baked treats, perfectly-executed coffee creations and a vast menu of sweet and savory delights stretching across all three meal periods. Omelets and Benedicts made to order, served with a complimentary glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice? Check. French toast/pain perdu? Check. Pastas, salads, gourmet sandwiches, empanadas and quiches? All bases covered. Truly, in a restaurant market saturated with practically every type of concept under the sun, La Boulangerie Boul’Mich — with six locations throughout Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties — stands apart. Now, with its newest location in Doral, the brand that celebrates fresh, fine food from France, Venezuela, Argentina and beyond is poised to be the not-so-secret spot for South Floridians and travelers alike.
“From when we launched what is now the La Boulangerie Boul’Mich brand in Key Biscayne in 2014 our goal was to deliver food and service that was sophisticated yet comfortable, quality-driven yet value-minded, and above all else, fun and approachable,” says partner Benigno Armas. “We’ve seen the restaurant and customer marketplace change so much in a relatively short time and couldn’t be prouder about how fans have embraced and supported us. We’re looking forward to what is to come while taking a moment to cherish what is.”
So what “is” La Boulangerie Boul’Mich? Succinctly, it is the Latin-European cafe, restaurant, and bakery you didn’t know you needed and now very much want in your neighborhood. The menu offers an all-day breakfast with an abundance of options for every taste. Three Benedicts are on offer, including a Traditional, Norwegian (swap the Canadian bacon for smoked salmon, sauteed onions, and capers); and Florentine, spinach stepping in for bacon. From there, omelets and egg specialties, ranging from Scrambled Eggs Black Forest — fresh-scrambled eggs tossed with sauteed, chopped Black Forest ham and cheese to a Croque Madame “our style” — open-faced French baguette with Black Forest ham, swiss cheese, fried eggs, tomatoes and a touch of bechamel. Also: bagels, buttermilk pancakes, avocado toasts (including Caprese and Greek variations). Naturally, breakfast beverages are a must, from mimosas and shandys to a selection of house-made fruit “Refreshers,” such as the Sweet Hawaiian, a base of water or coconut water (diner’s choice) with fresh lychee and pineapple juices.
Those seeking fine, fresh baked goods should look no further. A dizzying array of European and Latin specialties, baked onsite, are on offer. The journey starts with croissants and cachitos, with flavors including almond & chocolate, dulce de leche, classic, and jamon. From there, killer empanadas, quiches, macarons, elephant ears, pan de bono, brioche and baguettes.
Lunch and dinner options are as varied and tempting as La Boulangerie Boul’Mich’s baked goods. Eight different salads, 16 eclectic handhelds and close to ten fresh pastas promise something for everyone. Standouts: the Bravia Salad of crisp mixed greens, goat cheese, apples, and roasted almonds on a carpaccio of beets, dressed in balsamic and olive oil; a classic Nicoise with Dijon dressing; Gnocchi Ai Quattro Formaggi with a white four-cheese sauce blend; Eggplant Parmigiana with fresh tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, and parmesan cheese; the Le Club — Black Forest ham, signature oven-roasted turkey, imported brie cheese, fresh mushrooms, tomatoes and lettuce with mustard and mayonnaise; a Brie and Roasted Almond sandwich, served hot — melted creamy french brie with crispy almonds, romaine lettuce and raspberry jam; and Chicken Salad Supreme, chicken mixed with celery, scallions, chopped onions, mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomatoes.
For those looking to save a little La Boulangerie Boul’Mich for later, the eatery offers a variety of frozen items including soups, pasta sauces, and pastries with recipes so that guests can create them in their home kitchens.
