So what do sports, golf, fishing, education and community all have in common? The answer is quite simple! Your incredible Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce. Each year the Chamber has a golf tournament to help support education in our community through our very own Education Foundation.
This year, we expanded the golf tournament into an entire sports weekend, consisting of dinner, sponsored by Jerry’s Famous Deli, for 250 local elementary and middle school athletes with sports celebrity guest speakers Jay Harris, Ronnie Chalmers, Kelly Schumacher, Gretchen Duffner-Hand and David Sugarman; a golf tournament at the Miami Beach Golf Club, sponsored by Boucher Brothers Management; and a fishing tournament at the Miami Beach Marina, sponsored by Mango’s Tropical Café. The Sports Weekend finale celebration took place at Mango’s, where all Sports Weekend participants were invited to celebrate a successful weekend!
The result of all of this fun in the sun was a contribution from the Chamber’s Education Foundation of $10,000 to the City of Miami Beach to help support the IB program at Beach High. The addition of young athletes at the Supper of Champions was our way of bringing our youth to the event. These kids were not only inspired, but also engaged with the sports panel. At the end of the day, it is all about bringing the community together and making this a better place to work, live and play. If these young athletes are an indication of our future leaders, we are all in good hands.
I want to say thank you to all of our sponsors for this incredible weekend. Without you, it would not have been possible! We are all fortunate to have so many great people locally, such as Jason Starkman and Josh Wallack, who give so much of their time and energy back into this great community. We are all so fortunate to have such dynamic and committed members at the Chamber. They are the leaders of this community. I encourage you to come and meet them at any of our events and experience the power of membership!
At your service,
Alan
